I have had many requests to share how I made my recent MDD DT card and although it has many layers and looks at first glance to be quite complex, when broken down into it’s parts is quite a simple make. There are some gorgeous dies on the market and some of my favourites are from Marianne Designs. The 3 I used for this card are Anja’s Vintage decoration, Anja’s Border and Anja’s Circle.
Start by die cutting, embossing and inking 2 of Anja’s Vintage Decoration, 1 of Anja’s Border and 1 of the Decorative circle from Anja’s Circle all from plain cardstock. There is a tutorial on this step here if you would like to take a look
Cut your base card 11 1/2” x 5 3/4” and fold to create a 5 3/4” Square, cut your base paper layer 5 9/16” square and attach with double sided tape
Cut another paper layer 5” square and adhere the 2 Anja decoration pieces to the sides and the Anja border piece to the top, I added these just behind the paper layer with double sided tape
Attach this layer to the centre of your card base
Add a strip of lace to the lower section
Die cut or punch the image with a 2 1/2” circle ( this is the third size down from the Nestabilities Classic Small Circle set) and layer the image onto the decorative circle mat and then onto the die cut shape (which has been cut from Decorative paper) I attached them with double sided tape then added the whole medallion to the card with 3D mounting tape
All you need now is to decorate with some flowers, a sentiment and a decorative bow
The triple bow is created by wrapping the seam binding through my fingers in a figure 8 shape and tucking the end through to tie off, I then added a decorative pearl brad
I arranged the flowers in a moon shape and added to the card with extra tacky tape and Crystal Effects (glue gun will work just as well) Tuck in some punched leaves and attach with PVA glue
The sentiment is stamped from the LOTV Circular Christmas Sentiments set, I punched out the whole thing with a 1 3/4” punch and then punched out the centre greeting with a 1” punch for a layered effect. Finish with some sticky rhinestones in the top left corner
Supplies:
Stamps: LOTV Christmas Circular Sentiments
Paper: Marianne Designs Mattie’s Winter 2 MB0147, Eline’s Vintage
Cardstock: SU Naturals White
Ink: SU Sahara Sand and Basic Grey
Accessories: Marianne Designs Dies: LR0327 Anja’s Circle, LR0269 Anja’s Vintage Decoration, LR0300 Anja’s Border, Lace, Rhinestones, Pearl Brad, Seam Binding, 1 3/4” and 1” Circle Punch, Prima Pom Pom Flowers, WOC Tulips, Kordt & Godt Roses, White Babies Breath
The original post is here and has a slightly different image, The image sheet comes with 6 images 3 different views each in large and small size, I’ve chosen the smaller views for my cards as they fit nicely into the centre of the decorative frame and give the illusion of looking through into the scene. I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and are now looking forward to creating some Christmas scenes of your own
