This week the challenge at Paper Sundaes is to use Felt on your card/project. I have chosen to create a Tilda Gift Basket made out of felt. It also has felt flowers and a felt butterfly.

This is what I came up with:

tilda basket 2

My basket contains some yummy cookies. They are wrapped in cellophane and tied with a lovely Satin Bow. Addition of this cute tag  saying ‘ A Little Yummy For Your Tummy’ will complete the picture.tag closeup

And Tilda:

The basket itself is made from thick green felt. I have sewn together 8 petal shaped pieces to a base cut from the largest Octagon in the Nestabilities small Octagons set.

The felt petal pieces are created as follows, Make a template from plain cardstock 2.5cm flat base , mark each end (A), find the centre of this  and mark a spot 10.3cms high (B), mark another spot on this line 8.75cms from the base (C), measure out 3.25cms from (C) on both sides, labels ends of this (D) draw a diagonal line from (D)  to (A) on both sides. To complete your petal shape draw a curve starting at (D) passing through (B) and finishing at (D) on the other side. (I hope that makes sense to you). You will need 8 of these for your basket. Sew all 8 together to create one flat piece. They are sewn from (A) to (D). Sew your attached petals around the felt octagon ,sew remaining petals together. The handle is created from a piece of felt 32cms x 2cms. Sew this in place. You are now ready to decorate as desired.

My basket is decorated with some felt swirls and felt flowers cut on the Bigshot using SU Blossom Party. I have sewn a variety of them together with flower buttons and attached them with glue dots. The swirls are attached with glue. The buds are pink beads. I have embellished my Magnolia Mini Dragonfly Tilda with some felt Butterflies to continue the theme.

In my usual fashion, after spending hours measuring, adjusting, making a template and creating my basket, I found that the SU Petal Cone die would work perfectly for my template. If you have one of these, cut 4 petal cones, cut each one into 2 separate petals, cut off the tab and cut the point off the bottom. Then proceed with your basket.

Tilda with Bunny seemed the perfect selection for my basket and is complimented by a small Magnolia Butterfly. The addition of some Stickles to Mini Tilda’s wings and the Butterfly wings complete the picture.

My images are stamped with Memento Rich cocoa and coloured with Copic Sketch Markers. The Copics used are skin: E11, E00, E000, R20 hair, hat, mini’s shirt  and boots: E35, YR24, YR21, YR20 clothes and butterflies: YG97, YG95, YG93, YG91, YR21, YR20, YR00, RV14, RV13, W1, W0, W00
